Overview

Apple is seeking an Optical Coatings Engineer to lead investigations on components for display and optical sensing products. Job Description

Who you are

You have a BS in Material Science, Optics, Engineering Physics, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience. Your expertise includes optical coating processes and equipment, as well as optical coating and thin film characterization and metrologies. You are a flexible thinker who can problem-solve alongside a diverse team of engineers, chemists, and physicists. A successful candidate will have hands-on experience in optical coatings, especially vacuum deposition coatings, and a consistent track record in relevant areas. If you have an MS or PhD in a related field, that would be a plus.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the investigation and development of optical coatings, thin films, and interference optical filters to enhance Apple’s display technologies. You will collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to craft hardware technologies that support the roadmap for display and optical sensing products. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the R&D process from concept to implementation, ensuring that the technologies developed meet the high standards expected at Apple. You will engage with a diverse team, contributing your knowledge and expertise to drive innovation in optical technologies. You will also be responsible for characterizing and testing the optical coatings to ensure they meet performance specifications. Your role will require you to stay updated with the latest advancements in optical materials and processes, applying this knowledge to improve existing technologies and develop new solutions.
