Job Description

Who you are

You have a BS degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, and you bring over 10 years of relevant industry experience to the table. Your expertise lies in designing and tolerancing optical systems, and you are well-versed in commercial optics simulation tools such as Zemax, Code V, FRED, or LightTools. You also possess programming experience in MATLAB, Python, C, or similar languages, which allows you to effectively contribute to the development of optical systems optimized for mass production.

Your strong analytical skills enable you to tackle complex challenges in optical design, and you have a proven track record of turning novel optics design concepts into practical applications. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to bring innovative products to life. Your passion for optics and photonics drives you to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field, ensuring that your designs are at the forefront of technology.

Desirable

A Master's or PhD degree in Optics, Physics, or a related field is preferred, as well as experience with photonics devices. Your extensive background in the industry has equipped you with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in optical design, making you a valuable asset to any team.

What you'll do

As an Optical Design Engineer at Apple, you will lead efforts to design and manufacture ultra-compact, high-precision micro-optical systems. You will start with innovative optics design concepts and transform them into optical systems that are optimized for mass production. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams to ensure that the optical systems meet the required specifications and performance standards.
