Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong understanding of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Thread, or related protocols — your background in RF, Digital, and Wireless communications equips you to tackle complex challenges in connectivity. You are experienced with wireless sniffers and protocol analyzers, allowing you to debug and root cause issues effectively. Your proficiency in Python and MATLAB for testing, data analysis, and visualization sets you apart, and you have hands-on experience using data science libraries for data manipulation and analysis. You hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience, which provides a solid foundation for your technical skills.
You are familiar with power and performance trade-off analysis — your experience with CPU profiling and optimizations enables you to make informed recommendations for software design. You are comfortable working in a collaborative environment, contributing to the Connectivity Firmware Performance team, and driving optimization efforts from early prototypes to productization. Your analytical mindset allows you to devise performance evaluation methodologies that are crucial for the success of Apple's products.
Desirable
A Master's or PhD in a relevant field would be a plus, as would any additional experience in wireless communications. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly will enhance your effectiveness in this role, as you will be working closely with cross-functional teams.
What you'll do
As a Bluetooth Software Performance Engineer at Apple, you will be a key member of the Connectivity Firmware Performance team. Your primary responsibility will be to drive optimization of software design for Apple's latest products, including the next generation of iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and Mac. You will work on software design testing and optimization from early prototypes until productization, ensuring that performance standards are met.
You will devise performance evaluation methodologies on software/hardware prototypes, analyze logs, and make recommendations based on trade-off analysis at both the system and product levels. Your role will involve collaborating with other engineers to identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions that enhance the user experience across Apple's product ecosystem. You will also be responsible for documenting your findings and presenting them to stakeholders, ensuring that your insights contribute to the overall success of the team.
