Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in building, operating, and scaling distributed storage systems in cloud environments — you've tackled challenges in both private and public clouds and understand the intricacies involved in managing vast data needs. Your programming skills are strong, particularly in languages like Go, Java, Python, or Rust, allowing you to design and release code effectively. You possess a solid understanding of block, object, and file storage solutions in Linux, including technologies such as LVM, XFS, ext4, S3, Ceph, Gluster, and NFS. Your expertise in Linux internals and standard networking protocols complements your knowledge of distributed systems, enabling you to provision and migrate data efficiently.

You are solution-oriented and passionate about delivering software as a service — your work will impact hundreds of millions of users and contribute to the success of Apple's most visible features. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability and performance of storage systems. What you'll do

As a Senior Infrastructure SRE on the Object Storage team, you will be responsible for building and running next-generation distributed storage systems — your role will involve tuning the block storage layer and managing content delivery network traffic. You will collaborate with other SREs and engineers to design scalable solutions that meet the demands of Apple's critical services. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting complex issues, optimizing system performance, and implementing best practices for reliability and efficiency.

You will engage in capacity planning and performance tuning, ensuring that the infrastructure can handle the growing data needs of Apple services. Your work will also involve automating processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. You will participate in incident management and post-mortem analysis, helping to drive continuous improvement in system reliability and performance.
