Virtualization Engineer • Mid-Level

Who you are

You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or 5+ years of equivalent industry experience. With 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure and hyper-converged environments, you are well-versed in the complexities of virtualization. Your proficiency in VMware vSphere/ESXi is complemented by hands-on experience with other hypervisors including Hyper-V, KVM, and OpenStack. You possess strong skills in vCenter / ESXi administration and full VM lifecycle management, ensuring that you can effectively manage virtual environments.

Your expertise extends to both Windows Server and Linux systems, with a strong command of Active Directory, GPO, DNS/DHCP on Windows, and familiarity with Red Hat/CentOS and Ubuntu on Linux. You thrive in collaborative environments where you can work alongside other experts to solve complex challenges and automate processes at scale. You are driven by the impact of your contributions, supporting the engineers who are building Apple’s most extraordinary ideas.

Desirable

Experience with additional virtualization technologies or cloud platforms would be a plus, as would familiarity with automation tools that enhance infrastructure management. You are always eager to learn and adapt to new technologies, ensuring that you remain at the forefront of the virtualization landscape.

What you'll do

In this role, you will collaborate with a team of engineers to design and maintain large-scale Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platforms that are critical to Apple’s global operations. You will be responsible for deploying and managing enterprise-grade virtualization systems, ensuring they meet the high standards of reliability and security that Apple is known for. Your work will involve automating processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, allowing the team to focus on innovation.

You will engage in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues that arise within the virtualization environment, leveraging your deep technical knowledge to implement effective solutions. Your contributions will directly support the engineers who are creating the next generation of technology at Apple, making your role essential to the success of the organization.
