Overview
Astranis is seeking a Senior Radiation Effects Engineer to characterize radiation environments and design fault-tolerant electrical systems for spacecraft. This role requires hands-on experience in aerospace radiation environments.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in electrical engineering with a focus on radiation effects, ideally with 5+ years of experience in aerospace applications. Your hands-on experience validating components for radiation environments sets you apart, and you understand the complexities involved in designing systems that can withstand harsh conditions. You are detail-oriented and have a proven track record of coordinating and executing testing campaigns to ensure the reliability of spacecraft components. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly in integrating electrical systems with structural designs. You are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, valuing the unique perspectives that each team member brings.
What you'll do
As a Senior Radiation Effects Engineer at Astranis, you will be responsible for characterizing radiation environments for our satellite missions. This involves simulating and modeling the Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO) and Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) radiation environments to inform design decisions. You will design fault-tolerant electrical systems that can operate effectively in these challenging conditions, ensuring that our satellites meet stringent requirements for uptime and data security. You will coordinate and run radiation testing campaigns to upscreen components, working closely with the structures team to determine appropriate shielding levels across the spacecraft. Your role will also involve integrating these systems into the spacecraft, requiring strong collaboration with various engineering disciplines.
What we offer
At Astranis, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is expanding humanity's reach into the solar system. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a dynamic environment where your contributions directly impact the success of our satellite missions. Join us in our commitment to innovation and excellence in satellite communications.
