Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in program management, ideally with experience in technical environments — you understand the complexities of managing satellite programs and can navigate the challenges that come with them. Your ability to balance hands-on problem solving with strategic oversight is crucial for success in this role. You are comfortable interfacing with various stakeholders, including government entities and technical teams, ensuring that all program requirements are met efficiently.

You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to articulate program goals and updates clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Your experience in managing schedules, costs, and risks will enable you to drive projects forward effectively. You are detail-oriented and have a knack for identifying potential issues before they arise, ensuring smooth execution of programs.

Your technical depth allows you to engage with engineering teams meaningfully, understanding the intricacies of satellite systems and mission architectures. You are adept at coordinating across spacecraft and ground segments, ensuring that all components of the program align with the overall mission objectives. You thrive in environments that require collaboration and are motivated by the impact of your work on expanding humanity's reach into the solar system.

Desirable

Experience with U.S. Government contracts or satellite communications is a plus, as it will enhance your ability to manage the specific requirements of these programs. Familiarity with risk management frameworks and program optimization techniques will also be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As a Technical Program Manager for USG Programs at Astranis, you will play a pivotal role in driving the execution of satellite projects from concept through delivery. You will report directly to the Director of USG Programs and be responsible for owning program outcomes across schedule, cost, risk, and customer interface. Your leadership will be essential in managing trade studies to optimize mission system architectures, ensuring that all technical, contractual, and mission requirements are met.

You will coordinate efforts across various teams, including engineering and operations, to ensure that all aspects of the satellite programs are aligned and progressing as planned. Your ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously will be critical, as you will be overseeing a backlog of significant commercial contracts. You will also be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with customers, ensuring that their needs are met throughout the program lifecycle.

Your role will involve regular updates and presentations to stakeholders, where you will communicate progress, challenges, and solutions. You will be expected to identify risks early and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track. Your technical expertise will allow you to engage deeply with engineering teams, providing insights and guidance that enhance program execution.

What we offer

At Astranis, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to expanding humanity's reach into the solar system. We offer a collaborative work environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on our success.
