Who you are

You have a strong background in platform engineering with a focus on building scalable systems — your experience includes designing and implementing APIs, infrastructure components, and runtime systems that handle large volumes of data. You are proficient in cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and have a solid understanding of containerization with Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes.

You possess excellent problem-solving skills and can navigate complex technical challenges with ease — your ability to architect solutions that meet high availability targets is well-established, and you thrive in environments where you can define technical direction and drive initiatives. Your experience includes working with data ingestion frameworks and ensuring seamless integration across various systems.

You are a collaborative team player who values diverse perspectives — you understand that the best solutions come from inclusive discussions and are committed to fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Your communication skills enable you to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Experience with AI-native development practices is a plus — you have a keen interest in how data platforms can empower AI applications and are eager to contribute to pioneering efforts in this space. Familiarity with metadata management and data governance principles will also be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and build platform services that support Atlan's data platform — your responsibilities will include architecting the context store that transforms data chaos into clarity, enabling teams to collaborate effectively. You will work on systems that handle billions of assets and serve over 100,000 users, ensuring that the platform meets its 99.99% availability targets.

You will lead multi-quarter initiatives that define the technical direction of the platform — your expertise will guide the development of APIs and infrastructure components that are critical to the success of Atlan's offerings. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and AI engineers, to ensure that the platform supports the next generation of AI applications.

Your role will also involve mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of technical excellence within the team — you will share your knowledge and experience to help others grow and succeed in their careers. You will be at the forefront of transforming how data platforms operate, driving innovation and efficiency in the development process.
