Overview

Axon is hiring a Software Engineer II to build and operate critical systems connecting Axon Records to external law enforcement databases. You'll work with Java and C# to design secure and reliable backend systems. This position requires experience in software development and API integration.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a solid foundation in software engineering principles and experience with backend development — you've worked on systems that require compliance and security, ensuring that data is handled responsibly and efficiently. Your expertise in Java and C# allows you to build robust applications that meet the needs of users in high-stakes environments. You understand the importance of integrating with external systems and have experience working with REST APIs to facilitate seamless data exchange.

You thrive in collaborative environments where communication is key — you enjoy working with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Your problem-solving skills enable you to tackle complex challenges, and you are always looking for ways to improve existing systems and processes. You are committed to continuous learning and growth, eager to stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in software development.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer II at Axon, you will be responsible for designing and implementing backend systems that connect Axon Records to various law enforcement databases — your work will directly impact the efficiency of public safety officers, allowing them to spend more time in the field. You will collaborate with your team to ensure that the systems you build are compliant with relevant laws and regulations, maintaining the highest standards of security and reliability.

You will take ownership of the development process, from initial design through deployment and maintenance — this includes writing clean, maintainable code, conducting code reviews, and participating in testing to ensure the quality of your work. You will also engage with third-party partners to expose Axon Records data through well-versioned APIs, ensuring that integrations are smooth and effective.

In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their careers. You will be part of a mission-driven team that values collaboration and diverse perspectives, working together to create solutions that make a difference in the community.

What we offer

At Axon, you will be part of a fast-paced and meaningful work environment where your contributions matter — we offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional development. You will have the chance to work on innovative projects that have a real impact on public safety and justice, making a difference in the lives of officers and the communities they serve. Join us in our mission to protect life and be a force for good.
