Job Description
Who you are
You have a solid foundation in software engineering principles and experience with backend systems — you've contributed to projects that require compliance with laws and regulations, ensuring secure and reliable operations. Your expertise in Java allows you to design and implement robust applications that meet the needs of law enforcement agencies. You understand the importance of collaboration and communication, working effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. You are committed to continuous learning and growth, eager to take ownership of your work and drive meaningful change in the public safety sector.
Desirable
Experience with REST APIs and integrating third-party systems is a plus — you have a knack for understanding complex workflows and can navigate the challenges of connecting various data sources. Familiarity with law enforcement databases and the specific requirements they entail would be beneficial, as would any experience in cloud-based solutions.
What you'll do
As a Software Engineer II on the 3P Search team, you will be responsible for building and operating systems that connect Axon Records to external databases — your work will directly impact how public safety officers access critical information. You will design compliant and secure backend systems that query NCIC and other state and federal databases, ensuring that the workflows for initiating and monitoring searches are efficient and reliable. You will also expose first-party Axon Records data to CAD vendors and internal systems, creating stable and well-versioned APIs that enhance interoperability.
You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to refine requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions. Your role will involve writing clean, maintainable code, participating in code reviews, and contributing to the overall architecture of the systems you help build. You will also be expected to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise in production, ensuring that the systems remain operational and effective.
What we offer
At Axon, you will be part of a mission-driven team that values your contributions and encourages you to grow professionally. We offer a supportive work environment where you can take ownership of your projects and see the real-world impact of your work. You will have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, allowing you to enhance your skills and advance your career. Join us in making a difference in public safety and be a part of a company that truly cares about its mission and its people.
