You have a strong background in product design, ideally with 3-5 years of experience in creating user-centered designs that enhance the usability and functionality of complex software products. Your expertise in Figma allows you to create high-fidelity prototypes and design systems that resonate with users and stakeholders alike. You understand the importance of collaboration and have experience working closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and engineering, to bring innovative solutions to life. You are passionate about improving scientific workflows and have a keen interest in biotechnology, which drives your desire to create impactful user experiences. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable navigating the challenges that come with designing for complex scientific applications. You are open to feedback and continuously seek to improve your design processes and outcomes.
Desirable
Experience in the biotechnology or life sciences sector is a plus, as it will help you better understand the needs of scientists and researchers. Familiarity with user research methodologies and A/B testing will enhance your ability to make data-driven design decisions. A portfolio showcasing your design process and the impact of your work will be essential in demonstrating your capabilities.
What you'll do
In this role, you will own the design strategy and execution for Benchling's small molecule solution, working closely with product management to define the product roadmap and prioritize features that align with user needs. You will conduct user research to gather insights and validate design concepts, ensuring that the solutions you create are grounded in real user feedback. Your responsibilities will include designing and prototyping user interfaces that are not only visually appealing but also intuitive and functional. You will collaborate with engineers to ensure that your designs are feasible and effectively implemented in the final product. Additionally, you will participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers, fostering a culture of design excellence within the team. Your work will directly contribute to making scientific workflows more efficient and improving the quality of research conducted by scientists using Benchling's platform.
