Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, with a strong focus on building and maintaining scalable systems. Your expertise in cloud infrastructure, particularly with AWS, allows you to design robust solutions that meet high availability and performance standards. You are comfortable working with complex distributed systems and have a deep understanding of Linux environments, which enables you to troubleshoot and optimize system performance effectively.
Your experience with Kafka is extensive — you've implemented and managed Kafka-based event pipelines, ensuring they operate smoothly and efficiently. You understand the intricacies of message handling and can optimize data flow to support real-time analytics. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive projects from concept to production.
You are proactive and take ownership of your work, always looking for ways to improve processes and systems. Your strong problem-solving skills enable you to tackle challenges head-on, and you are not afraid to experiment with new technologies to find the best solutions. You value teamwork and are eager to share your knowledge with others, fostering a culture of learning and growth within your team.
Desirable
Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes is a plus, as it complements your skills in managing cloud-native applications. Familiarity with CI/CD practices will help you streamline deployment processes and enhance system reliability. You are also open to exploring new tools and methodologies that can improve system performance and team efficiency.
What you'll do
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer on the Currents team, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving our data export system, which handles tens of billions of messages daily. Your role will involve collaborating with engineers to design and implement high-scale systems that meet the needs of our customers. You will take the lead on projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
You will monitor system performance and reliability, using metrics and logs to identify areas for improvement. Your expertise in Kafka will be crucial as you optimize the event pipeline, ensuring it can handle increasing loads while maintaining low latency. You will also work on incident response, troubleshooting issues as they arise and implementing solutions to prevent future occurrences.
Collaboration is key in this role — you will work closely with product managers, software engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. You will participate in design reviews and contribute to architectural discussions, helping to shape the future of our systems.
