Canonical is hiring an Engineering Manager for their Ubuntu platform to lead engineering teams optimizing Ubuntu for next-gen silicon. You'll work with open source technologies and cutting-edge hardware. This position requires strong development skills and experience in operational systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in engineering management with a focus on operational systems and open source technologies. You are an outstanding developer who is comfortable reviewing patches and software design specifications. Your experience includes leading engineering teams and driving healthy engineering practices, documentation, quality, and performance optimizations.

You are passionate about cutting-edge hardware and have experience working with various architectures such as x86, ARM, RISC-V, s390x, and POWER systems. You understand the importance of collaboration and are skilled at fostering a diverse and inclusive team environment. You are committed to continuous learning and encourage your team to think differently and work smarter.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Manager at Canonical, you will lead a team of engineers to enable and optimize Ubuntu for the latest silicon platforms. You will be responsible for integrating next-generation features and performance enhancements while ensuring a consistent operating experience for users. You will drive the team to deliver high-quality design and code, and you will be involved in line management and career development for your team members.

You will collaborate closely with leading silicon vendors to optimize Ubuntu on their latest platforms, ensuring that the operating system meets the needs of enterprise customers. You will also be expected to participate in strategic discussions and align your team's efforts with the company's goals. Your leadership will help shape the future of Ubuntu in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
