Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, with a strong background in managing infrastructure projects and leading engineering teams. Your expertise in cloud technologies, particularly AWS, allows you to design scalable and efficient systems that support a large user base. You are a collaborative leader who enjoys mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

You possess a deep understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, which you have used to streamline deployment processes and enhance system reliability. Your experience in building foundational tooling and core networking solutions has equipped you with the skills to tackle complex technical challenges effectively.

You are data-driven and have a proven track record of making informed decisions based on metrics and user feedback. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders makes you an effective partner in cross-functional collaborations.

Desirable

Experience with multi-cloud environments and a passion for education technology would be a plus. Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools will help you drive efficiency in project execution.

What you'll do

As a Senior Platform Engineering Manager at Duolingo, you will own mission-critical infrastructure projects from end to end, contributing to the technical strategy and leading a team of world-class engineers. You will define and drive a multi-year strategy for scaling the developer experience on our cloud infrastructure, ensuring that our systems are robust, scalable, and cost-effective.

You will lead multiple teams and collaborate with peers across the Platform pillar to build an empowering developer interface for product and platform engineers. Your role will involve planning, executing, and ensuring the success of projects that directly improve the stability, performance, and cost of our infrastructure, ultimately impacting our top-line business metrics.

You will also be responsible for mentoring your team members, helping them grow in their careers while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Your leadership will be crucial in navigating the complexities of our infrastructure and ensuring that we continue to deliver high-quality educational experiences to our users.
