Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have navigated the complexities of debugging distributed systems. Your expertise in Java is complemented by a strong understanding of microservices architecture, allowing you to create scalable and maintainable solutions. You are comfortable working with REST APIs and have experience integrating with both internal and external services to enhance user experiences. Your familiarity with Docker enables you to streamline development and deployment processes, ensuring that applications run smoothly in various environments.

You thrive in collaborative environments, partnering closely with product, design, and frontend engineers to deliver features that address real customer needs. Your ability to translate complex requirements into actionable tasks is a key strength, and you take pride in contributing to an iterative development process that emphasizes continuous improvement. You understand the importance of automating workflows, and you actively participate in the full development lifecycle, from build and test to deployment and monitoring.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure would be a plus, as would familiarity with CI/CD practices. You are open to learning new technologies and methodologies, and you enjoy mentoring junior engineers, sharing your knowledge to help them grow in their careers.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design, build, and enhance backend services that power core functionality across the Censys Platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features that solve real customer problems, ensuring that the solutions you create are robust and scalable. Your work will involve integrating with various APIs to support rich, data-driven experiences for users, allowing them to explore and understand the global Internet.

You will own the full development lifecycle, automating build, test, deployment, and monitoring workflows to ensure that the applications you develop are reliable and efficient. Your contributions will help shape the future of the Censys Platform, enabling users to uncover threats and better protect their organizations. You will participate in an iterative development process that emphasizes continuous improvement, working closely with your team to refine and enhance the platform based on user feedback and performance metrics.
