Backend Engineer • Senior

Who you are

You have solid experience with Java development and the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot — you've built scalable applications and understand the intricacies of backend development. Your expertise extends to microservices architecture and RESTful APIs, allowing you to design systems that are both efficient and reliable.

Your experience with database design, particularly using SQL and JPA/Hibernate, means you can create optimized data models that support application performance. You have a good understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and SOLID principles, which guide your coding practices and architectural decisions.

You are familiar with test automation, including unit and integration tests, ensuring that the solutions you develop are robust and maintainable. Your exposure to messaging and streaming platforms like Kafka enhances your ability to build responsive and scalable systems.

You have a basic understanding of containerized environments, with Docker and Kubernetes being a plus, which allows you to deploy applications in modern cloud environments. You are also aware of observability and monitoring tools, which help in maintaining system health and performance.

What you'll do

In this role, you will contribute to the Loyalty Project, a fidelity and points-based system, by developing and implementing effective backend solutions. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to define project requirements and technical solutions, ensuring that the systems you build meet business needs.

Your responsibilities will include designing and coding new features, as well as testing and maintaining existing systems to ensure high availability and performance. You will work within a highly collaborative team environment, directly managed by the client, which will provide you with opportunities to grow technically while engaging with international stakeholders.

You will also mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the team. Engaging in continuous learning opportunities will be a key part of your role, as you will be encouraged to stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in backend development.
