Who you are
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable production systems. You’ve taken ownership of services from design through deployment and have navigated the complexities of debugging distributed systems. Your expertise in Java and Spring is deep, and you have a strong understanding of service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You are comfortable working with cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with product designers and other engineers to deliver exceptional customer experiences. You thrive in environments that challenge you to solve complex problems using innovative technologies and unconventional approaches. You are also familiar with Machine Learning concepts and how they can enhance user experiences in digital products.
Desirable
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP would be a plus, as would familiarity with video streaming technologies and content delivery networks. You are a proactive communicator who enjoys mentoring junior engineers and sharing knowledge within your team. You are adaptable and open to learning new technologies as the industry evolves.
What you'll do
As a Staff Backend Engineer at Coupang Play, you will play a pivotal role in the Customer Experience (CX) team, focusing on optimizing how customers discover and stream both VOD and Live content. You will design and implement backend services that support a wide range of content offerings, ensuring seamless delivery across various devices.
