Who you are

You have over 7 years of experience in server application and system engineering, demonstrating a strong ability to design and develop high-availability and scalable backend systems. Your expertise includes low-latency and high-throughput systems, and you possess deep knowledge in performance profiling and cost/performance trade-offs. You are proficient in at least one backend programming language such as Go, Java, or Node.js, and have hands-on experience with modern cloud computing platforms like AWS or GCP. Your leadership skills shine through in project planning, execution, code/design reviews, and mentoring engineers. You communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and can align technical solutions with business goals and regulatory requirements.

Desirable

Experience in operating streaming and related data systems is a plus, as is the ability to collaborate with iOS and Android developers to solve mobile app and API integration issues. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is also advantageous.

What you'll do

As a Staff Backend Engineer in the Coupang Play CX team, you will be responsible for designing and developing the architecture roadmap for live sports and Discover APIs. You will lead new API development projects aimed at enhancing the streaming experience for millions of customers. Your role involves developing, supporting, and improving the core backend systems of Coupang Play, ensuring they meet high standards of availability and scalability. You will establish best practices for code quality, system performance, and operational excellence while mentoring other engineers. Collaborating closely with product designers, product managers, and mobile and quality engineering teams, you will ensure that the services you develop meet the needs of the business and its users.
