Overview
Coupang is seeking a Compliance Manager to oversee environmental, health, and safety (EHS) operations at their Chiba location. This role requires expertise in EHS regulations and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Who you are
You have over 5 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) management, demonstrating a strong understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements. Your background includes developing and implementing EHS policies that align with both corporate standards and local laws. You possess a valid EHS certification, such as the Second-Class Health Manager License or equivalent, showcasing your commitment to maintaining high safety standards in the workplace.
You are fluent in Japanese and have business-level proficiency in English, allowing you to communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Your experience includes collaborating with government agencies, such as the Ministry of Labor and local fire departments, ensuring that all EHS practices meet regulatory expectations. You thrive in environments that require strong organizational skills and the ability to lead training programs that promote workplace safety and health.
You have a proactive approach to risk assessment and management, utilizing data to identify potential hazards and implement effective mitigation strategies. Your ability to analyze workplace incidents and develop corrective actions demonstrates your commitment to continuous improvement in EHS performance. You are also skilled in conducting internal audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and fostering a culture of safety within the organization.
Desirable
Experience in the logistics or manufacturing sectors is a plus, as is familiarity with EHS practices in foreign companies. You have a keen interest in working in fast-paced environments and are adaptable to the evolving needs of the business. Knowledge of Korean is an advantage, enhancing your ability to engage with international teams and stakeholders.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the EHS team at Coupang Japan G.K., supporting site leaders in the operation of the Jikgu Fulfillment Center and office environments. You will be responsible for developing and implementing EHS policies that comply with both corporate standards and local regulations. Your leadership will drive initiatives aimed at improving EHS performance, including the establishment of comprehensive training programs for employees.
You will conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards, ensuring that all safety measures are effectively communicated and enforced. Your role will involve collaborating closely with various departments to address EHS issues and promote a culture of safety across the organization. You will also manage health monitoring programs, including health checks and stress assessments, to support employee well-being.
As part of your responsibilities, you will oversee the operation of safety committees, investigating the root causes of workplace incidents and implementing preventive measures. You will maintain accurate records of workplace injuries, illnesses, and safety data, providing insights to senior management on EHS performance metrics.
