You have a BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience and over 10 years of relevant engineering experience, including acting as a technical lead. Your background includes building large-scale distributed systems in a production environment, showcasing your ability to handle complex challenges effectively. You possess strong programming skills, particularly in Python, and have experience with automation tools and cloud infrastructure.

You thrive in collaborative environments and understand the importance of mentorship—you're eager to raise the technical bar across the organization by sharing your knowledge and guiding less experienced engineers. Your experience includes leading technical initiatives that focus on improving reliability, security, and cost efficiency at a global scale.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and build automation systems to provision, configure, and manage Datadog’s global networking infrastructure. Your work will enable one-click and fully automated regional bootstrapping, teardown, and validation, significantly improving operational efficiency. You will lead efforts to enhance the safety, speed, and correctness of infrastructure changes, ensuring that the systems you build are robust and reliable.

As a Staff Engineer, you will balance the critical aspects of reliability, security, and cost efficiency while working on a global scale. You will mentor engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the team. Your leadership will be pivotal in reducing manual operations and eliminating error-prone workflows, ultimately contributing to the overall success of Datadog’s infrastructure.
