Job Description
Who you are
You have extensive experience in software engineering, particularly with Linux and kernel development — your expertise in eBPF and distributed systems allows you to tackle complex challenges in observability and performance. You thrive in environments where you can influence architecture and drive technical decisions, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
Your background includes working with Go services and large-scale distributed systems — you understand the intricacies of operating across diverse Linux kernels and distributions, and you have a knack for optimizing performance-critical data collection at scale. You are a technical leader who enjoys mentoring others and fostering a collaborative team environment.
What you'll do
As a Staff Engineer at Datadog, you will own major technical areas of the zero-instrumentation APM platform — your role involves driving architecture and influencing the product roadmap to ensure the platform remains scalable and easy to adopt. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance service discovery and protocol classification, tackling challenges in TLS detection and traffic decoding.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the observability product operates reliably in real-world production environments — this includes addressing protocol evolution and performance-critical data collection. Your leadership will help shape the foundational aspects of the product, making a significant impact on how Datadog and its customers utilize observability tools.
