Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in engineering management, particularly in data-driven environments — you've successfully led teams that build scalable data models and analytics systems, ensuring high-quality outputs that drive business insights. Your background includes hands-on experience with machine learning and data engineering, allowing you to guide your team effectively through complex technical challenges.
You possess strong technical skills in Python and SQL, which you use to design and implement robust data pipelines and analytics solutions — your familiarity with AWS and other cloud platforms enables you to leverage modern technologies for optimal performance. You understand the importance of data quality and compliance, and you proactively address potential risks in data handling and processing.
Your leadership style is collaborative and empowering — you believe in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within your team. You excel at mentoring engineers, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers while maintaining a focus on delivering exceptional results.
You are data-driven and analytical, using metrics to inform decision-making and guide your team's direction — you thrive in environments where you can turn complex data into actionable insights that enhance customer experiences. Your communication skills are top-notch, allowing you to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across departments.
Desirable
Experience with real-time analytics and streaming data systems is a plus — familiarity with tools like Kafka and Elasticsearch will help you lead your team in building cutting-edge solutions that meet customer needs. A background in conversational AI or customer experience technologies would be advantageous, as it aligns with Decagon's mission to redefine customer interactions.
What you'll do
As the Engineering Manager for the Insights team at Decagon, you will lead the development of innovative solutions that empower brands to enhance their customer experience through data-driven insights. You will oversee the design and implementation of scalable data models that process large volumes of unstructured conversation data, transforming it into clear, actionable recommendations for your clients.
You will collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, and other engineering teams to ensure that your solutions align with business objectives and customer needs — your role will involve setting technical direction, defining project scopes, and managing timelines to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
Your responsibilities will include mentoring and developing your team members, conducting regular performance reviews, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning — you will be instrumental in building a high-performing team that is passionate about leveraging data to drive customer success.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that your team adheres to best practices in data governance and compliance, proactively identifying and mitigating risks associated with data handling and processing. Your leadership will help shape the future of Decagon's Insights offerings, driving innovation and excellence in customer experience.
