Job Description
Who you are
You have a B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or a related field and over 6 years of industry experience as a geospatial engineer. Your expertise includes working with 3D point clouds, utilizing tools like PDAL and PCL, and you are proficient in Python, particularly with libraries such as Open3D and NumPy. You possess advanced knowledge of routing algorithms and graph theory, which you apply to solve complex pathfinding problems in unstructured environments. Your SQL skills are expert-level, particularly with PostGIS, allowing you to manage complex geometries and spatial relationships effectively. You have an algorithmic mindset, comfortable writing logic to tackle geometric challenges.
What you'll do
In this role, you will analyze complex 3D environments by building automated pipelines to process LiDAR point clouds and sensor logs. You will write algorithms to classify terrain and identify obstacles, ensuring the accuracy of the data used by the fleet. You will manage the geospatial backend, which serves as the source of truth for operational maps and geofences, utilizing PostGIS and cloud technologies. Additionally, you will build high-performance map services, including Vector Tiles and APIs, to visualize complex 3D environments and fleet positions in web-based dashboards. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of robotics solutions at DoorDash, contributing to a service loved by millions.
