Who you are
You have a strong background in data science with a focus on product analytics, ideally within a SaaS environment. Your expertise includes consumer lifecycle analysis, behavior analysis, and customer segmentation — you understand how to derive insights from complex datasets to inform business decisions. You possess robust knowledge of statistical packages like R or Python, which you use to perform deep analytical dives and design experiments that drive user engagement and product improvements.
You are skilled in creating personalized segmentation strategies leveraging propensity models — this allows you to target offers and experiences based on user attributes effectively. You have a knack for identifying key trends and building automated reporting dashboards that track acquisition, monetization, and engagement metrics. Your ability to advocate for data-driven solutions and influence cross-functional teams is a key strength.
You hold a Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or Computer Science. Your analytical mindset is complemented by strong narrative framing skills, enabling you to communicate insights and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.
Desirable
Experience with statistical modeling and machine learning techniques is a plus. Familiarity with tools like Amplitude or Mixpanel can enhance your ability to analyze user engagement behavior. You are comfortable working in a collaborative environment, partnering with product, engineering, and design teams to drive impactful initiatives.
What you'll do
As a Staff Data Scientist at Dropbox, you will partner closely with product, engineering, and design teams to answer key questions and drive impact in the Core Experience and AI areas. Your role will involve performing analytical deep-dives to analyze problems and opportunities, identifying hypotheses, and designing and executing experiments that inform future experimentation design and roadmaps. You will conduct exploratory analysis to understand user engagement behavior and derive actionable insights that enhance the user experience.
You will create personalized segmentation strategies leveraging propensity models, enabling targeted offers and experiences based on user attributes. Your insights will help identify key trends and build automated reporting and executive-facing dashboards to track the progress of acquisition, monetization, and engagement trends. You will also advocate for new solutions and build momentum cross-functionally to move ideas forward that are grounded in data.
In this role, you will monitor and analyze a high volume of user data, providing insights that drive business growth and improve the core product experience. You will collaborate with various teams to ensure that data-driven decisions are at the forefront of product development and user experience enhancements.
What we offer
Dropbox offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $203,200—$274,900 USD depending on your location within the US. You will have the opportunity to work in a flexible remote environment, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life effectively.
