Fizz is hiring a Backend Engineer to develop and scale their social platform for Gen Z. You'll work on end-to-end technical development of large product features. This position requires a strong background in backend development.

Who you are
You are a backend engineer with a passion for building scalable systems that can handle millions of users. You thrive in a lean engineering team where ownership and autonomy are highly valued. You understand the importance of safety, inclusion, and authenticity in technology, especially in a social platform aimed at Gen Z. You are eager to apply emerging technologies such as LLMs and vector databases to enhance user experience and content moderation.
You have experience working on backend systems for mobile applications, ensuring that they are robust and efficient. You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features that align with the company's mission. You are adaptable and open to learning new technologies that can improve the product.
What you'll do
In this role, you will own the end-to-end technical development of large product features, ensuring they are scalable and meet the needs of millions of users. You will apply your expertise in backend development to implement innovative solutions that enhance user engagement on the Fizz platform. You will work closely with product managers and designers to translate user needs into technical requirements, ensuring a seamless user experience.
You will also be responsible for integrating emerging technologies into the platform, such as LLMs for content recommendation and vector databases for content moderation. Your contributions will directly impact the growth and success of Fizz as it expands to new markets and colleges across the U.S. You will be part of a dynamic team that values collaboration and creativity, and you will have the opportunity to influence the direction of the product as it evolves.
What we offer
Fizz offers a competitive compensation range of $140,000 - $200,000 per year based on your skills and experience. As a full-time employee, you will be eligible for company-sponsored benefits and equity. You will work in a vibrant office located in New York City, where you will be part of a culture that encourages innovation and teamwork.
