Job Description
Who you are
You are a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in prototyping and designing mechanical systems — you thrive on solving complex engineering challenges and have a passion for 3D printing technology. You have experience with CAD software, particularly AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and are excited about creating tools that enhance user experience. You enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams and are eager to push the boundaries of what 3D printing can achieve.
You have a portfolio that showcases your skills and experience in mechanical design — whether it's through academic projects, internships, or professional work, you can demonstrate your ability to create functional and aesthetically pleasing designs. You are detail-oriented and understand the importance of precision in engineering, ensuring that your designs are not only innovative but also manufacturable.
What you'll do
In this role, you will prototype new mechanisms and test materials to address 3D printing challenges — your work will directly contribute to the development of cutting-edge products that change how the world creates. You will analyze, test, validate, and iterate on electro-mechanical systems, ensuring they meet the high standards of performance and reliability that Formlabs is known for.
You will create detailed designs in CAD and produce well-specified, accurate drawings that will guide the manufacturing process — your designs will be critical in bringing prototypes to mass production. Collaborating closely with our Global Sourcing and Manufacturing Teams, you will ensure that your designs are feasible and cost-effective, maximizing customer value.
You will push the capabilities of 3D printing, exploring new materials and techniques that can enhance the functionality and quality of our products. Your contributions will help shape the future of fabrication, making it possible for anyone to bring their ideas to life.
What we offer
At Formlabs, you will receive a competitive salary ranging from $90,000 to $120,000 USD annually, along with equity in the form of RSUs — your financial investment will grow with us in accordance to your impact. We believe in fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment where your ideas can flourish. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of hands-on builders, engineers, and innovators who are passionate about changing the world through technology.
We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — we value diverse perspectives and are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve. Join us in shaping the future of 3D printing and fabrication.
