Who you are

You have 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, particularly in Rust, and possess strong instincts for code review. You can quickly identify logic errors, performance traps, and security issues, ensuring that the code you evaluate meets high standards of quality. Your attention to detail is extreme, and you excel in written communication, as much of your role involves explaining the rationale behind your evaluations and decisions. You thrive in an asynchronous, low-oversight environment and enjoy reading documentation and language specifications to deepen your understanding of the technologies you work with.

While prior experience with Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF) or deep machine learning knowledge is not required, you are eager to learn and adapt. Your ability to critique and improve code is what matters most, and you are excited about the opportunity to contribute to the development of AI systems that can write production-grade code across various programming languages.

Desirable

Experience with constraint programming is a bonus, but not necessary. You are open to learning new concepts and technologies as needed, and you appreciate a straightforward work environment that values impact over fluff.

What you'll do

In this role, you will help train large-language models (LLMs) to write production-grade code. Your primary responsibilities will include comparing and ranking multiple code snippets, explaining which is best and why, and repairing and refactoring AI-generated code for correctness, efficiency, and style. You will inject feedback, such as ratings, edits, and test results, into the RLHF pipeline, ensuring it runs smoothly. Your contributions will help the model learn to propose, critique, and improve code in a manner similar to expert engineers.

You will work closely with a team of engineers, providing insights and evaluations that will directly influence the development of AI capabilities. Your role will involve a significant amount of critical thinking and analysis, as you will need to justify your decisions and recommendations clearly. You will also have the opportunity to engage with the broader engineering community, sharing your findings and collaborating on best practices for code evaluation and AI training.

What we offer

This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere. Compensation ranges from $30/hr to $70/hr, depending on your location and seniority, with a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week and the potential for up to 40 hours. You will be engaged as a 1099 contractor, providing you with flexibility in your work schedule.
