Who you are
You are an experienced attorney with a strong background in employment law, capable of navigating complex legal issues that arise in the workplace. You have a business-oriented mindset and understand the importance of aligning legal strategies with business objectives. Your experience includes managing outside counsel and providing mentorship on employment risks associated with emerging legal changes. You are adept at handling employment litigation and have a proven track record of supporting various People Operations functions, from pre-employment to post-employment.
You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams, including People Operations and business leaders. Your strong communication skills enable you to articulate legal concepts clearly and effectively to non-legal stakeholders. You are proactive in identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them, ensuring that the organization remains compliant with employment laws and regulations.
Desirable
Experience in a technology or internet-based company is a plus, as is familiarity with remote work policies and practices. You are comfortable with the nuances of employment law across different states and can adapt your approach based on varying legal requirements.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead and participate in various People Operations functions, providing legal support throughout the employee lifecycle. You will assist with internal investigations, employee relations, recruiting, training, performance management, and adverse employment actions. Your expertise will guide the organization in making informed decisions that align with legal requirements and best practices.
You will also collaborate with the Litigation team to address employment-related litigation matters, ensuring that the company's interests are protected. Your role will involve managing outside counsel when necessary and providing strategic advice on employment risks tied to business decisions. You will mentor team members on compliance issues and help develop training programs that enhance the understanding of employment law within the organization.
