Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience. With 5 years of experience in AML/Financial Crime compliance, data science, or quantitative risk management, you have developed a strong foundation in this field. You have also spent 5 years developing, tuning, and validating AML transaction monitoring systems or abuse detection models, showcasing your expertise in this area.

Your experience includes data analysis and modeling using SQL for data extraction, as well as statistical analysis with Python or R. You have led cross-functional quantitative projects, demonstrating your ability to collaborate effectively with various teams. A Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline is preferred, along with 8 years of experience in an AML/BSA investigative environment, ideally within a global payments or financial technology company.

You are skilled in SQL and Python, with applications to machine learning techniques such as clustering, anomaly detection, and supervised models for AML or fraud detection. Your understanding of payments data, payment processing, and financial crime typologies, along with model risk management principles, sets you apart in this role. You possess the ability to explain complex quantitative concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leaders, and have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

What you'll do

As part of the Google Payments Compliance AML team, you will work to safeguard Google's users and protect our products from fraud and financial crimes. Your role will involve ensuring strict adherence to global Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing regulations. You will lead collaboration with cross-functional partners, including Engineering, Regional Compliance Officers, and the Financial Crimes Intelligence teams, to design, propose, and operationalize new monitoring strategies.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, dashboards, and data solutions for the AML Investigations team. Your expertise in developing and validating transaction monitoring systems will be crucial in enhancing existing rule-based systems with machine learning and AI techniques. You will also lead projects that require a deep understanding of financial crime typologies and model risk management principles, ensuring that Google's compliance efforts are robust and effective.
