Job Description
Who you are
You have a Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, and you bring at least 8 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems. Your coding skills in Python, R, and SQL are strong, and you have a proven track record of querying databases and performing statistical analysis. If you hold a PhD, you can qualify with 6 years of experience instead. You thrive in an engineering-focused environment and are ready to tackle some of technology's greatest challenges.
Your experience includes working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and analysts, bringing scientific accuracy and statistical methods to product creation and improvement. You understand the importance of user behavior in your analyses and are adept at gathering, extracting, and compiling data across various sources. You are detail-oriented, ensuring data quality and readiness for analysis.
Desirable
You have a preference for candidates with 10 years of experience in analytics or 8 years with a PhD. Familiarity with large-scale applications and platforms is a plus, as is experience in evaluating and improving products in a tech-driven environment.
What you'll do
As a Staff Data Scientist on the Applied AI team, you will play a key role in evaluating and improving Google's products. You will collaborate with engineers and analysts to tackle a wide range of problems, applying your expertise in statistical methods to enhance product development. Your responsibilities will include owning the process of data gathering and ensuring the quality of datasets for analysis. You will format, restructure, and validate data, preparing it for insightful analysis that drives product improvements.
