Overview

Google is hiring a Staff Data Scientist for their Workspace team to provide quantitative support and insights. You'll leverage your expertise in statistical analysis and A/B testing to drive product improvements. This position requires 7+ years of experience in data analysis and coding.

Job Description

Who you are

You hold a Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, and you have at least 7 years of experience with statistical data analysis. Your expertise includes conducting A/B tests to drive product metrics improvement, with a minimum of 6 years in this area. You are skilled in data mining, querying, and managing investigative projects, having spent at least 5 years developing and managing metrics or evaluating programs and products. You have a strong coding background, particularly in Python, R, and SQL, with 12 years of experience solving product or business problems through statistical analysis.

You thrive in a collaborative environment, serving as an analytics expert for your partners and using data to help them make informed decisions. You enjoy weaving stories from data, making critical recommendations to your colleagues in Engineering and Product Management. Your ability to communicate complex findings clearly to team leaders is a key strength.

Desirable

A Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field is preferred. Experience in the Workspace product suite is a plus, as is familiarity with cloud-based productivity tools.

What you'll do

As a Staff Data Scientist at Google, you will oversee the integration of cross-functional and cross-organizational project timelines, developing process improvements and recommendations. You will help define operational goals and objectives while overseeing the contributions of others and developing your colleagues' capabilities in your area of specialization. Your role will involve providing quantitative support and market understanding to various partners throughout the organization, ensuring that data-driven insights inform product development and strategy.

You will be responsible for conducting statistical analyses and A/B tests to evaluate product performance and drive improvements. Your insights will directly impact the user experience for Google's Workspace products, which include Gmail, Calendar, Meet, and more. You will collaborate closely with product teams to ensure that data insights are effectively integrated into product strategies and decisions.
