Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 8 years of experience in software development using programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, and JavaScript. With 5 years of experience in leadership roles, you have successfully navigated projects and set technical direction, particularly in audio and video processing. Your experience includes managing software engineering teams for at least 2 years, demonstrating your ability to lead and mentor others effectively.
You possess a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, which complements your extensive experience. You have worked in cross-functional organizations for at least 3 years, showcasing your ability to collaborate effectively across different teams. Your familiarity with audio/video compression codecs, transcoding, formats, and large-scale media processing systems makes you a strong candidate for this role.
You have a proven track record of driving cross-functional teams towards the large-scale deployment of software systems, ensuring error-free upgrades and building long-term maintenance automation. Your excellent communication and collaboration skills enable you to work effectively with product managers and other stakeholders to define product roadmaps and align on long-term initiatives.
What you'll do
As a Software Engineer Manager II at Google, you will lead a team of engineers focused on audio and video processing for YouTube. You will be responsible for optimizing your own code while ensuring that your team members can optimize theirs.
