Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in software development using languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, and JavaScript. You have spent at least 3 years in a technical leadership role and 2 years in people management or team leadership. Your experience in complex, matrixed organizations has equipped you with the skills to navigate and lead diverse teams effectively.
You possess a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, which enhances your technical expertise. You are adept at providing technical leadership on major projects while managing a team of engineers, ensuring that both your code and your team's code are optimized for performance and efficiency.
What you'll do
As a Staff Software Engineering Manager at Google, you will guide engineering teams across multiple projects, contributing to product strategy and overseeing the deployment of large-scale projects. You will be responsible for managing project goals and ensuring that your team meets anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs. Your role will involve designing, guiding, and vetting system designs while also writing product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
You will review code developed by other engineers, providing feedback to ensure adherence to best practices, including style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency. Your leadership will help shape the technical direction of projects, and you will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and excellence in software engineering practices.
