Overview

Google is seeking a Hardware Emulation Engineer to work on networking solutions within Google Cloud. You'll utilize your expertise in emulation systems and coding in various languages to enhance performance and methodologies. This role requires a Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or possess equivalent practical experience. With at least 3 years of experience in emulation systems such as ZeBu Server, Palladium, or Veloce, you have a strong foundation in compilation, debugging, and performance enhancements. Your coding and scripting skills in languages like C, C++, Perl, TCL, or Python are well-honed, and you are proficient in Verilog/SystemVerilog for design purposes. You are familiar with EDA tools and have experience with design debug tools like Verdi or Verisium. A Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field is preferred, along with a solid understanding of hardware verification concepts and tools.

Desirable

Experience in embedded software and firmware, particularly with Linux drivers and firmware validation, is a plus. You may also have exposure to Hybrid Emulation or Speed Bridges, as well as FPGA systems such as EP, HAPS, or Protium. Your knowledge of CPU architecture, SoC, Fabric, and Networking will be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As a Hardware Emulation Engineer at Google, you will be part of a team that pushes boundaries in developing custom silicon solutions for Google's direct-to-consumer products. Your contributions will help shape the next generation of hardware experiences, delivering unparalleled performance and efficiency. You will support emulation team members by debugging hardware, tooling, and project-specific issues, and assist in bringing up external interfaces like DDR, PCIe, and Ethernet on emulation platforms. Creating standalone test cases for tool issues encountered in the emulation compile and runtime flows will also be part of your responsibilities.
