Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in software development. You possess at least 3 years of experience building large-scale distributed systems and 2 years in a people management or team leadership role. A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred, along with experience in Distributed File Systems or Storage systems and high-performance computing.

You are a technical leader who not only optimizes your own code but also ensures that your team of engineers can optimize theirs. You have a strong understanding of the complexities involved in managing large-scale projects and are adept at guiding teams through technical challenges. Your experience includes contributing to product strategy and managing project goals effectively.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineering Manager II at Google, you will lead a team of engineers in the development of Cloud AI File Storage solutions. You will oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally, ensuring that your team meets project goals while adhering to best practices in coding and system design. You will be responsible for reviewing code developed by other engineers, providing feedback to ensure adherence to style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the company, working in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, and distributed computing. Your role will involve designing, guiding, and vetting systems designs within the broader scope of the project, as well as writing product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems. You will also play a key role in mentoring your team, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers.
