Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in software development. Your background includes at least 3 years of experience developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, as well as experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture. You have spent 3 years in a technical leadership role and 2 years in a people management or team leadership role, demonstrating your ability to guide and develop engineers effectively.

Your preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field. You have experience working in a complex, matrixed organization and have led large complex infrastructure projects, successfully delivering them to production. Your excellent people management and communication skills enable you to build consensus and foster a collaborative team environment.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer Manager II at Google, you will take on a dual role that combines technical leadership with team management. You will optimize your own code while ensuring that your team members can optimize theirs, contributing directly to the cold storage platform development through design, development, and debugging. You will set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role, meeting regularly to provide feedback and coaching that fosters their growth and career development.

You will manage project goals and contribute to product strategy, working closely with partner teams to build alignment on strategy, decision-making, and project plans. Your role will involve leading the development of distributed storage systems, such as blob/object, file, and block storage, ensuring that your team delivers high-quality solutions that meet Google's ambitious goals.
