Who you are

You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. With 5+ years of generator experience in an industrial or commercial environment, you are well-versed in generator inspection, maintenance, and operations. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment up to 50 lbs, and you understand the importance of using OSHA standard safety equipment. You are flexible and can work non-standard hours and varying shifts as required.

Your preferred qualifications include additional experience in maintaining generator systems or working in a construction or technical environment. You have a solid understanding of generator systems used in data centers, including engines, alternators, control panels, and electrical systems. You are knowledgeable about meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques, utilizing standard hand tools and diagnostic equipment. Your communication skills enable you to effectively interact with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Facilities Technician II, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical conditions of Google’s data center facilities. Your responsibilities will include performing major and minor repairs on engines, alternators, control panels, and electrical systems. You will also be tasked with operating, monitoring, and maintaining generator systems, responding to any abnormal conditions that arise. Your role will involve supporting the startup, commissioning, and integration of new generator equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure, ensuring that all systems function optimally.

You will collaborate with a team of technicians to maintain the sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems that Google data centers rely on. Your expertise will contribute to the overall efficiency and reliability of the data center operations, making sure that all equipment is in top working condition. You will be expected to utilize diagnostic tools and technical manuals to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise in the generator systems.
