Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 2 years of experience in software development using one or more programming languages. You possess a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms, and you have experience developing accessible technologies. Your educational background may include a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields, which is preferred but not mandatory. You are versatile and display leadership qualities, eager to tackle new challenges across the full-stack as technology continues to evolve.

You thrive in environments where you can bring fresh ideas from various domains, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile technologies. You are enthusiastic about contributing to projects that are critical to Google’s needs and are open to switching teams and projects as the business grows and evolves.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer III, you will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions that are essential for Google Cloud Storage. You will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, ensuring that best practices are followed, including style guidelines, code accuracy, testability, and efficiency. Your role will involve triaging product or system issues, debugging, and tracking resolutions by analyzing the sources of issues and their impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the software solutions you develop meet the needs of billions of users. Your contributions will help shape the future of how users connect, explore, and interact with information. You will also be responsible for contributing to existing documentation or educational content, adapting it based on product updates and user feedback. Your work will directly impact the scalability and efficiency of Google's cloud services.
