Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, and at least 2 years of experience in a thermal design/test technical environment. You are familiar with air/liquid cooled data center environments and have experience in Linux testing environments and high power test environments. Your background includes scripting in a research and development lab, and you have a strong understanding of thermal cooling technologies and test strategies.

You possess excellent software skills, particularly in MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, and Linux, and are comfortable using various scripting languages. Your experience with computational thermal/mechanical simulation software or analysis is a plus, and you are adept at using hand tools such as drivers, hammers, drills, and crimpers. You have a keen interest in developing test strategies and executing them effectively.

What you'll do

As a Thermal Test Engineer at Google, you will collaborate closely with the Thermal Product Design team to produce comprehensive test plans and develop test fixtures. You will configure hardware and software systems, create scripts for hardware manipulation, and analyze and document the thermal performance of hardware systems. You will independently carry out thermal testing at our internal lab and/or external facilities, ensuring that all testing environments are optimized for efficiency and accuracy.

You will be responsible for improving the testing environment and execution strategy within owned hardware programs, designing necessary test fixtures to enhance engineering efficiency and data accuracy. Additionally, you will set up and maintain lab space, tools, and materials, manage the inventory of prototype devices, and enforce lab safety and general housekeeping protocols.
