Overview

Google is hiring a Lead Group Product Manager for Data Protection to drive the development of foundational tools that help protect user data. You'll work with cross-functional teams to navigate complex trade-offs in product roadmaps. This position requires 10 years of experience in product management and a strong technical background.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 10 years of experience in product management or a related technical role. Your background includes 5 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch, demonstrating your ability to manage the entire product lifecycle effectively. You have 5 years of experience in people management, showcasing your technical leadership skills and ability to guide teams towards success. Your expertise extends to technical product management, particularly in shipping infrastructure, security, or privacy products, which is crucial for this role. You are familiar with data protection domains such as data lifecycle management, access control, encryption, or automated policy enforcement, which will be essential in your day-to-day responsibilities.

In addition to your technical skills, you hold a Master's degree in a technology or business-related field, which enhances your understanding of the intersection between technology and business needs. You have a proven track record of managing and developing teams of product managers, including experience leading multi-location teams across different time zones or geographies. Your ability to translate global regulatory requirements into scalable technical roadmaps and product features is a key asset, as is your capacity to influence and collaborate with cross-functional partners in Legal, Engineering, and Policy to balance risk with product innovation.

What you'll do

In this role, you will work cross-functionally with Legal, Privacy, TRM, and Engineering to build foundational tools that help protect user data across Alphabet. You will navigate complex trade-offs in the roadmap between transforming the team to be AI-first and adhering to stringent data protection requirements, providing clear guidance to stakeholders. Your leadership will drive organizational change by transitioning parts of legacy infrastructure into scalable, AI-driven technical solutions. You will be responsible for defining the product vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals while addressing user needs and regulatory requirements. You will also oversee the product development process, from ideation to execution, ensuring that products are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
