Who you are

You hold a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or have equivalent practical experience, showcasing your strong academic background in a relevant field. With at least 2 years of experience in software development, particularly in C++, you have a solid foundation in programming that enables you to tackle complex problems effectively. Your understanding of data structures and algorithms, backed by at least 1 year of experience, equips you with the necessary skills to optimize performance and analyze workloads efficiently.

You have a keen interest in performance modeling and analysis, with experience in workload characterization that allows you to identify key areas for improvement. Your familiarity with machine learning techniques and inference usage models on hardware demonstrates your ability to apply advanced methodologies to real-world scenarios. Additionally, your expertise in CPU architecture disciplines such as branch prediction, prefetching, value prediction, and caching policies positions you as a valuable asset to the team.

What you'll do

As a CPU Workload Analysis Researcher within Google Cloud's ML Systems and Cloud AI organization, you will be integral to developing silicon solutions that power Google's direct-to-consumer products. Your role will involve conducting in-depth research on CPU optimization, feature development, and machine learning applications over compute platforms. You will analyze and profile workload requirements within the Google Cloud environment, contributing to identifying key areas of investment and future opportunities.

You will lead the investigation and development of metrics to measure CPU performance and efficiency, presenting your findings to stakeholders and contributing to strategic decisions. Your work will push boundaries in developing custom silicon solutions, ensuring that Google's products deliver unparalleled performance and efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to simulate real-world usage patterns on Google Cloud platforms, analyzing the impact of machine learning applications on CPU usage and identifying opportunities for optimization and feature enhancements.
