Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 8 years of experience in software development. With 7 years of experience leading technical project strategy and working with machine learning design, you are well-versed in ML infrastructure, including model deployment and evaluation. You have a strong background in speech/audio technologies, reinforcement learning, or other specialized ML fields, and you possess 5 years of experience in design, architecture, and testing software products.

Your programming skills in Python and C++ are complemented by your experience with data structures and algorithms, which spans over 8 years. You have also held a technical leadership role for at least 5 years, guiding project teams and setting technical direction. Your experience in performance analysis and debugging, especially for systems that span multiple interconnected hosts, makes you a valuable asset to any team.

You are familiar with contributing to open-source software development, particularly with frameworks like PyTorch or JAX. You thrive in collaborative environments, working alongside partner teams and leading researchers to enhance ML capabilities in Google's offerings.

Desirable

A Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field would be a plus, as would experience in a matrixed organization involving cross-functional projects.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software that supports Google's machine learning initiatives. You will collaborate with various teams to bring ML capabilities to the PyTorch-in-Cloud offering, ensuring that the software you develop can handle information at massive scale. Your responsibilities will include leading technical project strategies, guiding the architecture of ML systems, and contributing to the overall direction of ML infrastructure.

You will also be involved in debugging and fine-tuning models, ensuring that they perform optimally in production environments. Your leadership will help shape the technical direction of projects, and you will mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the team. You will be expected to stay updated with the latest advancements in machine learning and apply them to enhance Google's products and services.
