Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an IT-related field, or equivalent practical experience. With 5+ years of experience in technical infrastructure, you are well-versed in design, deployment, and troubleshooting. Your expertise includes Linux system administration, containerization with Docker and Podman, and Kubernetes. You are also familiar with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform and Ansible, and have experience in scripting and programming languages such as Python and Go.
You possess an active US Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) security clearance with Polygraph. Your preferred qualifications include experience leading implementations on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Google Distributed Cloud (GDC), and designing secure systems within air-gapped environments or under strict regulatory frameworks. You have an expert-level understanding of Kubernetes internals, service mesh, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
What you'll do
As a Senior Systems Development Engineer, you will lead the deployment and architectural evolution of Googleβs advanced cloud and AI technologies, including Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) and Gemini. You will partner with product engineering to influence technical direction and roadmap, resolving complex architectural bottlenecks and system-level issues. Your role will involve using tools like Python and Go to standardize operations, prevent recurring issues, and reduce operational toil. You will also serve as an expert and mentor for junior engineers while leading the on-call response for critical customer-impacting escalations.
