Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, along with 5 years of software development experience. Your expertise includes working with PostgreSQL or other databases, particularly in understanding database internals and administration. You have experience in designing systems and building managed services for databases or storage, which positions you well for this role.

Your programming skills include proficiency in C++ and SQL, and you have a solid understanding of query processing and optimization techniques. You are knowledgeable about relational databases and their internals, which will be crucial as you contribute to Cloud SQL, Google's relational database offering.

What you'll do

In this role, you will contribute to Cloud SQL, focusing on the immensely popular PostgreSQL open-source database. Your mission is to offer the best managed Postgres service and developer experience for customers, enabling them to deploy highly available databases with a focus on simplicity, reliability, durability, and performance at scale. You will lead technical projects from planning to delivery, helping to define the team's long-term goals and engineering strategy.

Collaboration is key in this position; you will work closely with product managers, customers, and partner teams to define product roadmaps and contribute to broader Google Cloud Platform database initiatives. You will foster an open and innovative team culture while providing technical leadership in a fluid environment.
