Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in software development. Your background includes at least 5 years of experience developing or launching products within artificial intelligence or machine learning, and you possess a strong understanding of ML design and infrastructure, including model deployment and evaluation. You are proficient in C++ and have experience with Large Language Models (LLM), Natural Language Processing (NLP), or Generative AI. You also have a solid grasp of data structures and algorithms, and you have spent at least 3 years in a technical leadership role, guiding project teams and setting technical direction.

Your experience in a complex, matrixed organization has equipped you with the skills to collaborate effectively across teams. You understand the nuances of working with Google ads or digital advertising platforms, particularly in the context of ads personalization. You are a strong communicator and enjoy coaching and mentoring a distributed team of engineers.

Desirable

A Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field would be a plus. Experience with Google ads or digital advertising ecosystems is also preferred, as is familiarity with optimizing ML infrastructure and developing model optimization strategies.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of solutions in specialized ML areas, focusing on generative AI for search ads. You will optimize ML infrastructure and guide the development of model optimization and data processing strategies. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Generative AI teams in ads quality and Google DeepMind, you will create and execute on goals and roadmaps to ensure that users feel connected with Generative AI ads. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the deployment of machine learning models, debugging complex systems, and fine-tuning algorithms to enhance performance.

You will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within your team. Your leadership will help shape the technical direction of projects, ensuring that they align with Google's broader objectives in AI and machine learning. You will work closely with product managers and other stakeholders to define project scopes and deliverables, ensuring that all technical requirements are met.
