Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience programming in C++. Your background includes 7 years in technical leadership, focusing on delivering system-level software, particularly in databases, operating systems, or kernels. You have managed PostgreSQL databases for at least 5 years and possess 3 years of experience in software design and architecture. Your expertise extends to data structures and algorithms, with a strong understanding of database internals, operating systems, and cloud platforms. You thrive in complex, matrixed organizations and have experience leading project teams and setting technical direction.

Desirable

A Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred. Familiarity with large-scale system design, distributed computing, and networking will be advantageous. You are comfortable working in a fast-moving, innovative environment and are eager to bring fresh ideas to the table.

What you'll do

As a Staff Software Engineer at Google, you will lead complex technical projects from inception to deployment, focusing on AlloyDB's semantic search capabilities. Your role will involve designing, developing, and delivering critical features that ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability for our customers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand customer needs and translate them into technical solutions. Your leadership will guide project teams, setting the technical direction and ensuring successful project execution. You will also have opportunities to switch teams and projects, contributing to various areas critical to Google’s needs.
