Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 8 years of experience in software development. Your background includes 7 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, along with experience in compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture. You have a strong foundation in data structures and algorithms, with at least 8 years of experience in these areas. Your technical leadership experience spans 5 years, where you've led project teams and set technical direction in complex, matrixed organizations.

You thrive in environments that require collaboration across cross-functional teams and have a proven track record of influencing and coaching engineers. Your ability to manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables is complemented by your expertise in design, architecture, and testing/launching software products. You are versatile and eager to bring fresh ideas from various domains, including information retrieval, distributed computing, and large-scale system design.

Desirable

A Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field would be a plus, as would experience in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, or security. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and are excited about the opportunity to switch teams and projects as Google’s needs evolve.

What you'll do

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will work on critical infrastructure projects that support Google's vast array of services. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions. You will provide technical leadership on high-impact projects, influencing and coaching a distributed team of engineers to achieve alignment on goals, outcomes, and timelines.

Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to facilitate clarity and alignment on project objectives.
