Overview
Graphcore is seeking a Senior Thermal Engineer to design and validate thermal solutions for AI and HPC liquid-cooled servers. You'll collaborate with various teams to ensure high-performance systems. This role requires expertise in thermal design and system integration.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or Materials Science, or equivalent experience, and possess a strong background in thermal design and validation. With at least 5 years of experience, you have developed a deep understanding of system integration for AI and HPC liquid-cooled servers. Your expertise spans board-level, server-level, and rack-level applications, covering both air and liquid cooling technologies. You are comfortable collaborating with silicon packaging, mechanical design, module assembly, and manufacturing partners to deliver reliable and scalable thermal solutions. Your ability to communicate effectively in English and Mandarin allows you to interface seamlessly across global teams.
Desirable
Familiarity with rack-scale liquid cooling, immersion cooling, and energy efficiency standards such as ASHRAE, ISO, and Telcordia is a plus. You have knowledge of failure modes in liquid cooling, including leakage, corrosion, pump life, and coolant stability, which enhances your ability to troubleshoot and optimize thermal systems.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for the thermal design and validation of AI and HPC liquid-cooled servers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain robust manufacturing processes at the wafer foundry, package assembly, and PCBA and server blade build subcontractors. Your hands-on approach will ensure that the thermal solutions you design meet the performance and reliability standards required for high-volume production. You will also engage in system integration tasks, ensuring that all components work harmoniously to achieve optimal thermal performance.
You will lead efforts to validate thermal designs through testing and simulations, providing critical feedback to improve designs and processes. Your role will involve analyzing thermal performance data and making recommendations for enhancements. You will also participate in design reviews and collaborate with engineering teams to address any thermal-related challenges that arise during the development process.
What we offer
At Graphcore, you will be part of a dynamic team that is at the forefront of AI compute technology. We offer a collaborative work environment where your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of artificial intelligence. You will have opportunities for professional growth and development, working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry. We provide competitive compensation and benefits, along with a culture that values innovation and teamwork. Join us in shaping the future of AI and making a significant impact in the tech world.
