Grindr is hiring a Senior Application Security Engineer to enhance their application security strategy. You'll work with DevSecOps practices and security tooling to protect millions of users. This role requires expertise in SAST, DAST, and CI/CD workflows.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in application security, with a strong focus on securing web, mobile, and API applications — you've successfully led security initiatives and collaborated with engineering teams to embed security into the development lifecycle.
Your expertise includes architecting and implementing security tooling such as SAST, DAST, and Fuzzing tools — you understand how to integrate these solutions into CI/CD pipelines to enhance security posture.
You are a proactive communicator who collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and compliance — you prioritize security and ensure it is embedded into the organizational culture.
You have a deep understanding of security best practices and are passionate about driving DevSecOps initiatives — you thrive in environments where you can influence and elevate security standards.
Desirable
Experience with security frameworks and compliance standards such as OWASP — familiarity with risk assessment methodologies is a plus.
What you'll do
In this role, you will assess and improve Grindr's security posture by partnering with engineering teams to evaluate the security state of applications — you'll identify risks, prioritize security efforts, and drive remediation strategies.
You will build and deploy security tooling, architecting and managing security solutions that integrate seamlessly into our DevSecOps pipelines — your work will ensure that security is a core component of Grindr's software development process.
You will lead secure SDLC initiatives, collaborating closely with developers to integrate security into CI/CD workflows — your efforts will help to create a culture of security awareness and best practices across the organization.
You will act as a trusted advisor for application security, working cross-functionally with product, engineering, compliance, and executive teams — your insights will help shape the security strategy and ensure alignment with business goals.
What we offer
Grindr offers a competitive salary range for this role, with a base pay of $138,500—$162,000 in Chicago and $160,000—$190,000 in the Bay Area — you will also be eligible for equity, benefits, and a company bonus program.
You will work in a hybrid environment, with the flexibility to collaborate in our Chicago or Bay Area offices on Tuesdays and Thursdays — this role provides an opportunity to make a significant impact on the security of our platform.
Join a team that is dedicated to protecting millions of users while fostering a culture of security excellence — we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement.
