You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, building scalable production systems that serve millions of users. You’ve owned services from design through deployment and have a knack for debugging complex distributed systems issues. Your deep expertise in Java and Spring allows you to ship high-throughput APIs that handle large volumes of data efficiently. You understand the importance of system architecture and have strong opinions on dependency injection and testing strategies. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to drive architecture decisions that influence broader ecosystems. You are passionate about delivering highly reliable solutions and ensuring optimal performance while maintaining high availability.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and containerization tools such as Docker is a plus. Familiarity with database management systems like PostgreSQL will help you excel in this role. You are comfortable tackling complex challenges related to system scalability and resilience, and you have a proactive approach to problem-solving.

What you'll do

As a Staff Backend Engineer at Gympass, you will play a strategic role in the CIA Growth Team, focusing on enhancing the wellbeing platform for organizations. You will support the entire Growth vertical, driving architecture decisions that align with company goals. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing scalable backend solutions that can handle large volumes of data while ensuring high performance. You will collaborate with talented team leads, UX designers, and frontend/backend engineers across three multidisciplinary squads. Your work will directly impact the subscriber and client journey, helping to expand access to wellbeing experiences. You will also be involved in critical initiatives that shape the architecture powering millions of users worldwide, tackling challenges related to system performance and resilience.
